– Thu, Dec 04, 2025 at 08:49:06 PM
We're excited to let you know that our founder, Robin Macan, won the 'Inventor of the Year' award at the Victorian chapter of the Inventors Association of Australia (IAA) on December 3!
This award is a testament to Robin's hard work, tenacity and vision in bringing the vabsRider to life.
His name will now be added to the perpetual trophy — a true mark of inventive excellence. (We'll share some photos of that in the new year when he receives it.)
Thank you again to all the Kickstarter backers who have supported Robin in his inventor's journey so far.
Safe travels, The ataraxyBSC Team
vabsRider Update: Revised Shipping Timeline
5 months ago
– Sun, Oct 26, 2025 at 03:01:11 PM
Thank you for your patience as we work towards manufacturing our first batch of vabsRiders. Reimagining bike seat design – technology that hasn’t changed significantly since its invention more than 200 years ago – presents unique challenges, and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate these bumps in the road.
The product design process is a continuous cycle of testing and re-testing, and in our last update we mentioned that we were conducting final prototype testing. As we intensified our scrutiny of the design, we encountered an unexpected cyclic stress degradation. On investigation we determined that this required us to adjust the vabsRider design and remake specific components.
This has pushed back our manufacturing timeline, and we sincerely apologise for the delay. The good news is that identifying the issue before tooling prevented a major disruption to our overall manufacturing process.
We’re happy to report that testing of the revised prototype design yielded positive results, and we’re confident that the vabsRider will perform to the highest, and most robust, standards.
We're excited to let you know that we’re now proceeding with tooling in preparation for our first manufacturing run.
Under our revised production timeline, we now anticipate that shipping of our first batch of vabsRiders will take place in April 2026. Once tooling is complete and we’ve locked in manufacturing dates we will have a clearer idea of shipping dates, and we'll be in touch with another update.
We are working tirelessly every day with one goal: to deliver a bike seat that provides exceptional cycling comfort, is built to last, and will not become obsolete. Thanks again for your patience.
Safe travels, Robin Macan & the ataraxyBSC team.
The Road to Production: A Look at Our Rigorous vabsRider Fatigue Testing
5 months ago
– Sun, Oct 12, 2025 at 10:51:57 PM
As we move closer to manufacturing our first batch of vabsRiders, we thought we'd give you a behind-the-scenes look at a crucial part of our journey: fatigue testing.
Our goal is to ensure the vabsRider is not only innovative but also incredibly durable and safe for every rider, so we’re currently putting our prototypes through a final round of pre-tooling testing.
Because we’re pioneering a completely new bicycle saddle, there are no existing Australian Standards (AS) or even International Standards (ISO) that precisely align with the vabsRider's unique design. So, the team at Whistle Design has developed a controlled test based on advice from credible third-party international laboratories.
This involves fatigue testing the vabsRider seat post with 100kg (220lbs) of weight over 100,000 cycles.
WATCH: Our founder Robin Macan caught up with Nick Jones, Senior Mechanical Engineer at Whistle Design, to talk through the fatigue testing process.
We've designed the vabsRider beyond current worldwide standards so our rigorous review and testing process is a critical component of our product development. It’s a painstaking but necessary step to ensure we deliver a product that is built to last and provides exceptional comfort and safety for years to come.
Once the vabsRider passes these crucial final tests, we will move into the tooling phase – creating the molds and equipment required for wide-scale production.
I look forward to updating you on the next stage of our vabsRider journey soon.
Safe travels, Robin Macan Founder, ataraxyBSC
